Karl W. SwartzWhen Death Comes I Shall Quicken

When death comes,
will I know the pain?
When death comes
an illusion will remain.
My course is near
I can recall,
I shall recover all.

When death comes,
shall I be aware?
When death comes
I shall know the steady foot,
the steady stair.
When death comes,
when death comes in the air.

When death comes,
I shall remain.
When death comes, when death comes
I shall refrain.

I know all, I shall witness.
I shall decide
when death comes.  Quickness.

When death comes,
I shall quicken to the air,
the stair I never knew
till death comes.

Promise me when death comes
you shall come back to me
to say I missed him.
